Are you willing?
Are you willing to let your false self that you’ve relied upon to get you through die? Are you willing to surrender all? Are you willing to become a man under the one True Authority? Where you freely live as a beloved son and not an orphan? Are you willing to “die” to this “life” you have been chasing in the world so that you may truly live?
“Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seed.”John 12:24
Men, we’ve got to be willing to die in the worldly sense so that we may live for the Kingdom. Remember …
They are what matter. They all have been entrusted to my care. My kingdom is here. My time should be here. My investment should be in them. My attention should be available to them. God entrusted them to me. As I pour out into them, I “die”. Their needs ahead of mine. Their provision. Their teaching. Directing them to the Father. Fighting for them. Leading them. Remember Gladiator. The first thing he said to Marcus was around concern for his men.
The enemy lies. He distracts us with business, busyness, temptations, the flesh, worldly possessions, attention, affirmation … all these things we chase after for “life” and those that most matter to us suffer as a result.
Watch this next clip. It is so powerful. When my Dad died, I watched this clip over and over. “And now we are free. I will see you again, but not yet”. We all will soon step through this door. Our days will end. We will step into the Kingdom. Until then, we have a role to play. Maximus is half-way in, and he’s called back. One more role to play. One more chance to lead. One more command to give. One more protection to offer, “Lucius is safe”. Now, he is free.
So, let me ask you, man to man …
How will you end your days?
What kind of man do you want to become?
What do you want them to remember about you?
What role has God given you to live out?
What will you do to build a [secret life] with Jesus?
